Chiefs’ Rashee Rice can’t believe infamous Andy Reid video: ‘No way that’s him!’

The Chiefs’ rookie wide receiver was astounded when he was shown the now-infamous video of Andy Reid competing in a Punt, Pass and Kick competition during “Monday Night Football” among Los Angeles-area children in 1971.

Reid, 13 in the video, towers over the rest of the kids in the video in a Rams jersey and helmet — which he had to borrow from 6-foot-1, 207-pound Rams running back Les Josephson because he was so big.

“His helmet’s too small. He looks like he got a hat on,” Rice, chuckling as Reid launches a missile of a pass in the video, said.

“There’s no way that’s him, bro,” Rice, laughing in disbelief, says as he’s assured that it is, in fact, his coach.

“I don’t know what y’all built, but that’s crazy. That ain’t Coach Reid.”

Rice, a second-round pick in the 2023 draft, has been a revelation for the Chiefs this year, recording 938 yards on 79 catches with seven touchdowns as he emerged as one of the team’s best pass-catchers.

He led all receivers in the Chiefs’ Wild-Card win against the Dolphins with 130 yards and one touchdown.

As one of the team’s most prolific offensive options outside of Travis Kelce on a Chiefs squad that has an underwhelming receiver group as a whole, Reid will surely be looking to Rice to help create plays with Patrick Mahomes as the team attempts to win back-to-back Super Bowl titles next Sunday.

Reid will be on the hunt for his third championship in the 25th year of his head coaching career, which started with the Eagles in 1999.
